Garrak Bombers welcoming all comers to their roost | Katherine Times

One of Katherine’s Aussie-rules football teams has a new name and fresh perspective heading into the 2021 season. Kalano Bombers Football Club have been rebadged the Garrak Bombers Sporting Association. “It’s got a good ring to it doesn’t it,” Garrak Bombers coach and mentor Denis Coburn said. Garrak is the Jawoyn word for black cockatoo, the men’s football team captain Gabriel Henry said. He said the change symbolises a new direction for the sports club. Mr Henry said the name change is part of a broader push to attract more players to the club, even if they are not associated with the Kalano Community Association.
