Poor maintenance and risk management behind Kakadu helicopter crash

A Bell JetRanger helicopter crashed into terrain while culling feral horses in Kakadu National Park on the morning of May 21, 2019, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) says.

The helicopter was operated by Jayrow Helicopters, contracted by the Director of National Parks (DNP), while the shooter and spotter were experienced Kakadu National Park rangers.

The helicopter experienced an immediate power loss while operating at a low-level.
